Melissa Boggs on Being a Woman Leader in a Time of Crisis

After 8+ months of the crisis, uncertainty, and quarantine, our emotional, physical, and mental stores are depleted. In the early months, we all seemed to be holding on until "after this passes", but we now know that we are in for a much longer ride than any of us anticipated. For that reason, we are being called upon to really prioritize what is important in our lives. I really appreciated the opportunity to answer these thought-provoking questions from Authority magazine, because they inspired me to really self-reflect on my own priorities and how well I was setting boundaries.

One thing that has helped me is just having something to look forward to. Right now, every day can feel like Groundhog Day (Shout-out, Bill Murray!). It has helped me to develop some short and long term goals or celebrations that are specific to my job or my family. It's a reminder that this too shall pass, and change will come if we stay the course.

Scrum Alliance community, you are so dear to us. You are all doing your best. You are navigating circumstances that none of us predicted, balancing the needs of work with the needs of family. Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. Know that we are here for you, and... just do the next right thing.
