Meet Your 2024 Scrum Certified Member Board of Directors Candidates

The Scrum Alliance Board of Directors (BoD) has a minimum of nine members. Of these, at least five are appointed by the board and known as Board Elected Directors, or BED.  Three are elected by the membership of the organization and referred to as Scrum Certified Members or SCM. One member is the current Chief Executive Officer of the organization.

Meet the Finalists

In June of this year, we opened up the nomination period for the 2024 SCM election and received our largest pool of nominations to date. We are pleased to introduce the following three finalist candidates selected by the Nominating Committee. As an active Scrum Alliance member, you have the opportunity to vote on one candidate whose term on the Scrum Alliance BOD will commence on 1 January 2024.

Lance Dacy

My name is Lance Dacy, a practicing Certified Scrum Trainer (approved in Prague 2015). I have been involved with the Scrum Alliance since July 2008. I went on to form one of the first user groups sponsored by the Scrum Alliance. Our group has grown to be one of the largest user groups across the world and continues to provide value on all fronts to our community members.

I am honored to have been nominated to run for a board position. My pledge is simple. I want to help the board support all of us that depend on the organization for our main stream business. Having run my own business since 2014, I believe I have some great insight on what our guides need from the Scrum Alliance to help us to compete better.

We see our clients grappling for education, but have very few answers for them outside of CSM or CSPO. I would like to help change that and find other streams/opportunities for our wonderful guide community. We help companies all of the time become more agile with their products, I would like to apply some of those same techniques to the SA.

Lastly, I think we are data rich, information poor. I know we can do a better job with case studies to bolster our brand as an industry thought leader. We have a great community that could contribute a lot in the way of thought leadership and guidance for case studies. I would like to make that a reality.

Anthony W. Montgomery

I am profoundly humbled to serve the Scrum Alliance community because it was Scrum Alliance that introduced me to agile 12 years ago. Scrum Alliance holds a special place in my heart and changed the course of my life. I truly believe in Scrum Alliance’s vision and want everyone to experience the same positive transformation that I did.

Moreover, having observed the impact that leadership and strategic decision-making have on organizations, I recognize the crucial role that boards play in shaping direction and success. As a dedicated agile leader with a strong passion for Scrum, I am eager to collaborate and contribute to the overall success of Scrum Alliance and its constituents.

In my current role, I support business agility creation and Scrum application to clinical trials and drug development. In addition, with over 20 years of leadership experience, I have coached executives and teams across various sectors, including financial, music, healthcare, professional services, pharmaceutical, and government. I intend to bring these insights to the role.

My educational credentials include an Ed.D. in interdisciplinary leadership, an M.B.A., and a B.S. in finance. My research includes the socio-psychological effects of Scrum, and I spent the last eight months as a post-graduate investigating evidence-based coaching. My expertise lies in assisting organizations with business agility, culture, and leadership and I direct my efforts toward executive coaching, team coaching, and leadership development.

All these reasons are why I will be a great addition to the board of directors and respectfully ask for your vote.

Dhaval Panchal

I am committed to bringing real-world agility to organizations where trust, collaboration, teamwork, and authenticity are the norm and not the exception. My motivation is deeply rooted in my belief that being agile enables our organizations to become places where we can grow professionally and personally.

My dedication shows in the consistency of my volunteer work over the last 18+ years of being an active member of Scrum Alliance. (Global Scrum Gathering organizer 2018 and 2019; Guide-level programs Certified Enterprise Coach, Certified Team Coach, Certified Agile Leader educator, TAC reviewer/contributor/advisor; User Group sponsor/contributor/mentor; Public Speaker; and Author)

From the start of my career as a Programmer in India to my current role as an Executive/Entrepreneur, I have always been a changemaker. I have led/coached large-scale Agile transformations in the Oil and gas, Banking, Medical, and Gaming businesses. I have frequently worked internationally and experienced the challenges of enabling transformative change first-hand. It is not easy, but it is rewarding.

As a leader, I catalyze change in systems to create empowering work environments where people can become the best version of themselves.

This is what others in the community have to say about me:

“Dhaval is fun to work with. He is never unfazed by challenges and can easily raise the bar in tough situations.”

“I still recall, ten years later, what a powerful impression Dhaval's coaching and instruction has had in my management journey.”

“Dhaval's patience, willingness to listen, and respect for different perspectives created a positive and enriching experience for all of us.”
