Agile coaches work in companies spanning the globe. They work with teams, executives, managers, and individuals to help organizations transform their processes and achieve their intended mission in the world. Today’s companies want to work in an agile way in order to bring outstanding products, services, and results to their customers. Agile coaches help them get there.

Released earlier this year, the State of Agile Coaching Report provided a good deal of insight into who agile coaches are today, what they do to bring impact to organizations, and how COVID-19 affected their work locations in 2020-2021.

Findings in the report include:

  • Most agile coaches surveyed believe that shifting mindset and culture is their greatest impact on an organization
  • 65% are working as employees, 17% as independent contractors, and 18% as consultants on assignment from employers
  • 72% of coaches work in a fully remote setting and 70% report that working from home has a moderate to severe impact on their ability to coach effectively
  • Most coaches (68%) earn $50,000-200,000 USD annually
  • Only 3% of agile coaches report earning $300,000 or more annually
  • 50% of coaches surveyed were multi-team coaches, 20% business coaches, 17% single-team coaches, 10% leadership coaches, and 3% technical coaches
